Session Dates and Topics

All sessions are held on Fridays either in person or on Zoom. In-person sessions are held at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, 1468 Madison Avenue.

Session format is indicated in the workshop descriptions below.

    Facilitator: Shashi Anand, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Overview and Defining Leadership in a Team-Based Setting plus Optimize Your Teamwork Style and Approach: DiSC Assessment Tool

    1. Understand Leadership in Teams:

      • Define leadership and its significance in team-based settings.

      • Explore different leadership styles and their impact on team dynamics.

    2. Optimize Teamwork Style Using DiSC:

      • Complete the DiSC assessment to identify personal teamwork styles.

      • Interpret DiSC results to enhance self-awareness and interpersonal communication.

      • Apply DiSC insights to improve team collaboration and effectiveness.

    1. High-Performing Team Characteristics:

      • Identify the traits and behaviors of high-performing teams.

      • Recognize the stages of team development and strategies to manage each stage.

      2. Effective Team Contribution and Management:

      • Develop skills to contribute effectively to team success.

      • Learn techniques for managing team dynamics and promoting a positive team culture.

    • Learn methods for giving constructive feedback to team members.

    • Practice delivering feedback in a way that promotes growth and maintains team cohesion. Description text goes here

  • Effective Group Coaching:

    1. Understand the role of coaching in team development.

    2. Develop skills for facilitating small group coaching sessions.

    Stop-Start-Continue Log Review:

    1. Utilize the Stop-Start-Continue method for continuous improvement.

    2. Reflect on personal and team progress, and set actionable goals for future development.

    Understanding Emotional Intelligence:

    1. Define emotional intelligence and its components.

    2. Assess personal emotional intelligence and identify areas for improvement.

    Applying Emotional Intelligence in Teams:

    1. Apply emotional intelligence skills to enhance team interactions.

    2. Develop strategies for managing emotions in oneself and others to foster a positive team environment.

    Wellness Strategies:

    1. Recognize the importance of personal wellness for professional success.

    2. Develop and implement a personal wellness plan to maintain physical and mental health.

    Building Resilience:

    1. Understand the concept of resilience and its relevance to professional life.

    2. Learn strategies to build and maintain resilience in the face of challenges.

    Conflict Resolution Strategies:

    2. Learn and practice conflict resolution techniques to address and resolve disagreements effectively.

    Building a Conflict-Positive Culture:

    1. Promote a culture where constructive conflict is encouraged.

    2. Develop skills for mediating conflicts and maintaining team harmony.

    Reflective Coaching Session:

    1. Engage in final small group coaching sessions to review progress.

    2. Reflect on personal and team growth over the course of the program.

    Future Planning and Continuous Improvement:

    1. Set goals for continued development beyond the program.

    2. Develop a plan for maintaining and building upon the skills and knowledge acquired.
