SPOTLIGHT: STRATEGY CREATION FOR HEALTH CARE HCD0740
Michael Pugh, Instructor

Michael D. Pugh has over thirty years of CEO experience in hospitals, health care systems, managed care organizations, consulting and health care services companies.  He is an adviser and consultant to health care providers, payer, trade associations, technology companies and government organizations nationwide, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Denver Business School Health Administration Program and a Senior Faculty member for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Leadership Faculty.  Mr. Pugh is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and is a co-author of the IHI published and highly popular white paper, “Seven Leadership Leverage Points for Organization-Level Improvement in Healthcare” and co-author of the new IHI white paper “High Impact Leadership: Improve Care, Improve the Health of Populations, and Reduce Costs.”

Mr. Pugh holds a B.S. and an M.P.H. in Health Care Administration from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana and is the author of multiple articles and book chapters on quality and governance.  He resides in Southern Colorado where he can pursue his passions of fly fishing, mountain biking and skiing.
